Lumen Launcher — Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 24, 2026

Lumen is a home screen (launcher) for Android. It is built to keep your data on your phone: Lumen has no user accounts, stores none of your data on any server, shows no ads, and includes no analytics or tracking tools. The developer never receives your personal data.

This policy explains what Lumen accesses, why, and where that information goes.

In detail

Installed apps. Lumen reads the list of apps that have a launcher icon, so it can show, search and open them. Names you give apps, favorites, and hidden or locked apps are stored only on your phone.

Approximate location and weather (optional, off by default). If you turn on weather and allow approximate location, Lumen gets your approximate position from Android. It rounds the coordinates to two decimals (about 1 km) and sends them to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway, api.met.no) to get the forecast. No other information about you is sent. On your phone, Lumen keeps only the latest forecast and the rounded coordinates of that request, so it doesn’t ask again for the same place too soon. MET Norway’s handling of requests is covered by its own terms and privacy policy: https://api.met.no/doc/TermsOfService. You can turn weather off or revoke the location permission at any time.

Notification access (optional). If you grant notification access, Lumen uses it for two things: to see which app is playing music or other media, so it can show the track and its controls under the clock; and, if you pause an app or start focus mode, to snooze that app’s new notifications until the pause ends, when Android shows them again. To do this Lumen looks only at which app posted each notification. Lumen does not read, store or send the content of your notifications.

Usage access (optional). If you grant usage access, Lumen reads Android’s usage events (time spent in apps, app opens and unlocks) when you open its statistics screen. These figures are calculated on your phone, shown to you, and not stored or sent anywhere.

Photos (optional). When you choose one of your photos as a wallpaper, you pick it with Android’s photo picker, so Lumen sees only the photo you chose. Lumen keeps a resized copy in its private storage, so it can redraw the wallpaper later. It deletes copies that are no longer used.

Wallpaper collections (optional). The wallpaper studio offers collections of pictures: photos from Wikimedia Commons, each under the license its author chose and shown with its credit; public-domain photos from NASA; and Lumen Originals, pictures made for Lumen with AI tools. Lumen’s wallpaper server (fondos.fungicode.io, hosted by Cloudflare) holds the list of collections and every picture. While you browse the wallpaper studio, Lumen asks it for a newer list, at most twice a day, and downloads the pictures you look at or pick. Those requests carry only what any download does, such as your IP address, and a User-Agent naming the app; no information about you or your phone is sent, and the developer keeps no record of them. Cloudflare handles the requests under its own terms and privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/. A picture you pick is kept like one of your own photos, together with its title, author and license, so the wallpaper can show its credit.

Emergency contact (optional). The name, phone number and note you enter are stored on your phone and drawn on your lock screen wallpaper, so that whoever finds your phone can contact you. Anyone who looks at your lock screen can see them, so only enter what you are comfortable showing.

Smart search and contacts (optional). In search you can type or say commands such as “alarm 7:30” or “call mom”. Lumen reads them on your phone and sends them nowhere. What you say is turned into text by Android’s speech recognizer, as in any voice search. For “call…” and “WhatsApp…”, Lumen asks for permission to read your contacts and looks up the name you said there; it reads only names and numbers, only at that moment and only on your phone, and neither stores nor sends them. The call is placed by your phone app when you tap call, and the chat is opened by WhatsApp. With “message Anna: running late”, Lumen opens WhatsApp or your messages app with the text already written: you send it from that app, and Lumen neither stores nor sends it. You can remove the contacts permission or turn smart search off at any time.

App lock. Locked apps ask for your fingerprint, face or screen lock through Android’s own prompt. Lumen never sees or stores your biometric data or your PIN; Android only tells it whether you were verified.

Wallpapers. When you apply a wallpaper, Lumen sets it on your home and lock screen through Android.

Backup. If Android backup is on for your Google account, Android may back up Lumen’s settings and customizations (and, when you move to a new phone, the photos used as wallpapers). That backup is managed by Google under your account, not by the developer. You control it in your phone’s settings.

Purchases. If you buy Lumen Pro, the payment is processed by Google Play. The developer does not receive your payment details. Lumen only checks with Google Play whether the purchase is valid.

Sharing and selling

The developer does not collect your data, so there is nothing to sell or share. Apart from the wallpaper downloads and the purchase check described above, which carry nothing about you, the only information that leaves your phone is the rounded location sent to MET Norway when weather is on.

Children

Lumen is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

All data-related features are optional. You can turn each one off in Lumen’s settings, revoke permissions in Android’s settings, or uninstall Lumen. Uninstalling removes all data Lumen stored on your phone.

Changes

If Lumen starts handling data differently, for example by adding a feature that needs new access, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date above will change.
